Our Mission

The Charleston Carnegie Public Library aspires to be the center of the Charleston community by connecting people through information, technology, education and experiences. 
 
The Charleston Carnegie Public Library system is located at 712 Sixth St., Charleston, IL. The Charleston Carnegie Public Library provides free services to all residents living within the Charleston city limits with services available to all others for a fee.
 
The total amount of the library's operating budget for Fiscal Year 2015 (May 1, 2014-April 30, 2015) is $475,986.75.
 
The library holds over 61,000 physical items including a variety of books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Rays and offers access to over 55,000 eResources.
 
In total, over 80,000 items were checked out of the library during fiscal year 2013-2014! In addition to these items, thousands of people entered the library to utilize print and electronic reference resources, access the Internet, enjoy state-of-the-art Wi-fi service, view a Library exhibit, or attend one of the Library’s many events.
