1000 Books is designed to help parents integrate reading into their lifestyle/family which in turn prepares their children for kindergarten. Just print your log and start reading! You may read and even re-read any books from anywhere with the only time limit being your child’s first day of kindergarten.
Print Your Book Log To Get Started
It depends on when you get started!
0 Years Old = 1 Book Per Day or 4 Books Per Week
1 Year Old = 1 Book Per Day or 5 Books Per Week
2 Years Old = 1 Book Per Day or 7 Books Per Week
3 Years Old = 2 Books Per Day or 10 Books Per Week
4 Years Old = 3 Books Per Day or 20 Books Per Week
Pick up your book log at the KidSpace desk or print it out at home and begin reading!
For every book your child listens to, color in a page on the book icons. Remember, you may re-read any book as many times as your child chooses. Plus, books enjoyed in Story Time, in pre-school, in e-book format, and in audiobook format count as well!
After each 100 books page is completed, bring it to the KidSpace desk for a special recognition ribbon and mark your accomplishment with your handprint on our 1000 Book Forest mural!
When you finish all 1000 books, you'll get a medal of honor and a book of your choice to keep!
Any book, from anywhere, any time your child listens count! This includes books from Story Time, pre-school, audiobooks and e-books!
And you can absolutely re-read books! Repetition is an integral part of learning. Count each book every time you read it.
Children from birth up to their first day of kindergarten.
And there is no need for a Library Card. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is for all children and all families!
